Human Healing & Wellness encompasses all parts of a person's well-being; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  When only one aspect of a person is observed there is a neglagence of the other three.  In order to completely heal one's body every part has to be treated.  I have always felt that when a person is treated at a clinic, hospital, or any other health care facility, that there was an absence of treatment for all parts of the person's illness.  After reading the material for this class, creating wellness: psychological and spiritual aspects of healing, I now know I am not alone on this thinking and that integral medicine would define this very point of a wholesome healing.
The Journey On relaxation exercise was not my first time participating.  I have done this exercise before at a mothers group.  For me, I did not get a lot out of it.  I thought it was kind of corny.  I liked some of the analogies the man used such as comparing the sponge to a muscle.  Other than that, I did not feel like I benefited much from the exercise.  Maybe if I was lying on my bed listening to the exercise on my Ipod, it would help me more.

  1. Hi Marrisa,

I think like anything in life, we have to look around until we find those things that work for us, be it for relaxation techniques for our mental wellness, or even physical ways of healing, no method is a "one size fits all". It is also like the reading material for our class states, we have to train our minds to think differently than what we were raised on or what is in our comfort zone. Continue to look for those avenues of healing (mind, body, and spirit) that work for you, and through your personal experiences of many different techniques you may be better qualified to encourage and direct others toward many different techniques of positive thinking and relaxation.
